What's your lace personality?
Are you swooning over ultra-feminine floral patterns, or perhaps bold, boho, graphic designs. I do love a whimsical, romantic lace with applique or embroidery. It is very French and shows expert craftsmanship.
If you think lace is is dated and belongs with the mothballs along with your Grandmother's wedding dress, I am here to change your mind! Modern lace, crafted by the experts (the French of course!) is daring, imaginative, comfortable and so NOT what your grandmother would have worn.
Read on for your education on the types of lace available now, what they look like and select which one is for you on your wedding day.
Calais Lace
The term Calais lace actually denotes the location where a lace has been produced. Just like Champagne and Camembert, you are not permitted to call something 'Calais lace' unless it was produced in the region.
Calais Lace (as well as Chantilly Lace) is where you want your lace to come from! Accept nothing less...

Embroidered Lace
Do you want texture and depth for your wedding dress? Then your go-to is embroidered lace. To create this unique lace, delicate patterns are tightly stitched onto an illusion base. This forms the appearance of an applique, the pattern becomes 3-Dimensional. Wondrous!

Guipure Lace
Guipure lace appeared in Italy at the end of the 16th century and features cellulose or silk threads. It is a firm, stiff lace where motif patterns are connected by bars or plaits rather than net or mesh.

Point d'Esprit
Breatability and layers...Point D’Esprit is a lightweight lace with small oval dots scattered over an illusion of tulle or net fabric. This type of lace adds volume and pairs best with a chic and flirty aesthetic.

Alençon Lace
Originating from Alençon, France, this needlepoint lace looks best with a floral design on a sheer or net background. This type of lace, although delicate, can withstand beading and heavy threading. For those wanting a wonderfully romantic and pretty trim to their wedding dress.
