Are you still taking appointments given the current social distancing rules?
Currently, we are accepting a limited number of appointments for brides whose weddings are scheduled within the next 9-12 months. We are spacing these out to ensure there is no risk of cross contamination.
Our top priority is the safety and wellbeing of YOU our clients, this includes strictly adhering to the guidelines of the Victorian Health Department such as sanitation guidelines, wearing gloves and social distancing.

Where are your gowns made, and has the current crisis impacted how and when I would receive my order?
Carte Blanche Bride specialises in French designed and made wedding gowns. The majority of our designers produce their gowns in the heart of Paris. Just like us, they are small, family operated businesses and as such are working extremely hard to ensure their ateliers remain open. This includes measures such as alternating days of their seamstresses and allowing for a little extra window of time to order.
Currently, deliveries from France are not seeing any delays. We use DHL Express for shipping which ensures standard arrival time of 3-5 days from dispatch. We take our orders and deadlines very seriously and as such have always had built in buffers of time to ensure our brides' experience is never one of stress.
Be EXTRA careful when selecting where you order your dress from, as a lot of locally based designers still source their fabric from places like China and India who's borders are currently in lock down. Carte Blanche's designers source only within France making access to their product much more streamlined than anywhere else.

I know the lead time is usually 9-12 months to order a wedding gown? What happens with that?
This has been one of the most frequently asked question over the last few weeks. As I mentioned above, Carte Blanche has ALWAYS built in a buffer of extra time for our brides' orders. The nature of international orders means this comes naturally to our business.
We can still guarantee delivery of our wedding gowns that have already been ordered AND for our new brides ordering at the moment.
Once again be aware that many local designers and brands have limited availability of fabrics as these still come from overseas (and more often than not from India or Asia, meaning longer delays).
Now is the perfect time to order your wedding gown, BEFORE the influx of orders when restrictions are lifted. Get ahead of the pack to avoid undesirable RUSH ORDER fees. There's only so many orders businesses can accept within strict time frames.

My wedding has been postponed, how do I store my dress to ensure it's safe?
Here are our TOP TIPS for ensuring your wedding gown is safe and protected for long term storage.
1. Keep it in a FABRIC garment bag: all our Carte Blanche Bride designers provide a 'breathable' garment bag with each wedding dress. DO NOT USE PLASTIC. This can cause moisture build up leading to mould and potential yellowing of delicate fibres whether natural or man made.
2. Your wedding dress needs to stay out of direct sunlight
3. Make sure your storage location is cool and dry (no humidity allowed!)
4. The best way to store your dress - if all the above criteria are met - is FLAT. This ensures no stretching of lace or alteration of silhouette due to gravity taking effect.
5. If you can't safely provide the above conditions, hanging is fine - but make sure you use the hanger ribbons rather than placing the weight of the dress on the shoulders themselves.
6. Last, but NOT LEAST, avoid handling your wedding gown too much. Don't try it on just for the fun of it. A long white dress is a magnet for dirt and any hint of a mark will show up. Any time you need to handle it or check something, wash your hands thoroughly and ensure there is no grease and grime, grabby children or curious pets in close proximity!
