Blooming Beautiful - the most stylish looks for your wedding flowers this year

I met Lauren through another gorgeous friend of mine, Kristal of St. Kristal Makeup artist.

Working in weddings for over 12 years, you tend to know something special when you see it. Lauren was my one and only choice to work with for a special collaboration shoot last year. Quietly spoken, but intensely talented; Lauren is the special lady behind State of Nature Floristry.

Specialising in small to medium sized weddings and events, Lauren provides personalised and friendly service with a focus on local product and an eco-friendly approach to her blooms - something that I see as seriously important!

Throughout the year, I am often asked for advice by my brides for ideas and guidance on their wedding flowers and colours.

For our girls with their 2019 wedding dates looming, I went to the expert to offer some answers and ideas on what is hot for this year in all things bridal blooms and floristry.

The Indoor Garden Installation

State of Nature Florals

Floral installations - a stand alone structure - like a-symmetrical metal stands adorned with floral decoration; a non-traditional arch; a growing aisle or; an indoor garden with green vines and foliage climbing upwards are the perfect way to frame you as you take your nuptials and work in almost any space.

Hanging floral pieces all the rage this year, indoor gardens or non-traditional installations are the next big thing and, in great news, don’t have to break the bank.

Sarah Winward

At State of Nature, we often use foraged, in-season elements that are effective as they create that natural, garden-esque feel.

I personally love to re-purpose! While installations create the perfect frame for your wedding photos, they can also double as a photobooth backdrop for your guests as they party the night away. Get snap happy!

Bows and Arrows

Options for installations are endless so ask your florist to think up something creative and this will ensure a one-of-a-kind, unique setting for your wedding day.

Minimalism

At State of Nature, we have seen a resurgence in textural materials.

Dried elements are making a real comeback when it comes to florals and foliage and we love!

Studio Mondine

This works perfectly for couples who don’t want huge floral arrangements on their guest tables. Which can block guests' view and get in the way of a good chat.

Why not highlight and hero textures and blooms by opting for a pared back tablescape; placing an edit of beautiful vessels (think terracotta or ceramic) with just one or two stems in each and complemented by some beautiful taper candles and soft linens, along the middle of your guest tables or along the front of your bridal table.

This is not only cost effective but truly makes a statement.

Colour Trend: Earthy, Antique Tones

Sarah Winward

Think caramel, latte and nude – this colour palate is growing in trend and is predicted to become even more popular in 2019.

Instead of going with traditional whites and greens for your floral, consider a more sophisticated colour palate with earthy tones. We guarantee you won’t regret it (and your florist will love you!)

Antique, romantic tones are perfect on their own, and they go with almost anything – pair it with pops of burgundy, or sage greens for a stylish, yet understated and contemporary look.

Bold is Back

So you want a bit of color?

Ponderosa and Thyme

Well why not, a wedding is a party after all, so if you want to bring in some bold tones, you are in luck – the Pantone color of the year is Living Coral.

Pantone (the company best known for its color matching systems; and choose their top color for each year) describe this year’s color as ‘sociable and spirited’ and it ‘embodies our desire for playful expression’.

So there you go, you have a licence to go big, bold and playful – one tip though; if you’re going to opt for a ‘pop’ of color, make sure you also use complementing colors - for example, I like to pair coral with blushes, creams, lemons and lilacs for a balanced, playful bouquet.

Stylish and dreamy options and something in there for the minimalists and maximalists. xo
